The new Mecklenburg County Health Department Director recommends one full time nurse in every CMS school!
We were thrilled to hear Dr. Plescia, the new Health Dept Director for Mecklenburg County, talk about the need for one full time nurse in every CMS school. He spoke at the County budget retreat last week in front of the Board of County Commissioners, the County Manager and others. He explained loud and clear why there is need for one nurse in every school. He made a very compelling argument demonstrating the way nurses protect the health and safety of all school children. Between the momentum from our group's advocacy and the strong words of our new Health Department Director, we know now is the time to keep advocating for more school nurses. If ever there was a time to make this happen, it truly is right now. We want to give a heart felt thank you to Dr. Plescia. He is renowned in the area of public health and we are so lucky to have him in Charlotte and advocating for our children.
If ever there was a time to get involved and help, that time is truly now!
